Utica First’s Food Truck Coverage:
With Utica First, your agency can begin going after one of the hottest trends in the food service industry. We listen to our agents and brokers to understand your policyholders’ business environments, risks, and goals to help you get them the coverage that’s right for them. Our coverage is a perfect complement to a food business’s Business/Commercial Auto Policy.
Discuss with your insured:
- Available to risks that are operational at least nine months a year on a standalone basis.
- If we currently write the actual restaurant, seasonal rules do not apply.
- Must have a K-Type Fire Extinguisher on board if the truck contains a grill or deep fryer.
- Rating is based on a minimum of 100 sq. ft. along with actual sales. Location used is the VIN, year, make, and model.
- Blanket Additional Insured forms available at insured’s request.
- Any smoker or wood-fired cooking type trucks are outside the scope of this program.
- Utica First’s new Food Truck coverage (UFFDT) is available as either an endorsement to an existing Utica First Restaurant BOP or as a standalone BOP policy.
Discuss with your Staff:
- Make sure your staff is up to speed on this great program from Utica First.
- Please call your Utica First Commercial Underwriter with any questions.
Food Truck coverage approved for use in CT, MA, MD, NJ, NY, OH, PA, and VA.
When quoting a Food Truck, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Our minimum BPP is $5,000.
- Utica First considers BPP as anything NOT permanently attached to the vehicle, including pots, pans, utensils, etc.
- Blanket Additional Insured may be added. Select either the State/Political Organizations or Dedicated Person/Organization (whichever is appropriate).
- Rating is based on minimum square footage of 100 sq. ft.
- Must have a K-Type Fire Extinguisher on board if they have a grill or deep fryer.
- $500 minimum premium.
- There is NO COVERAGE for the Food Truck while in ‘motion.’ Coverage comes from the Commercial Auto that is being written for the Food Truck. This policy is to cover the liability while serving, property, etc.
- We are not able to add building coverage on Food Trucks.
- There are some ‘coverage restrictions’ with Equipment Breakdown and how a Food Truck is defined as a ‘vehicle.’ You may wish to remove this coverage from your quote.
- The BP 0200 (ed. 06 12) policy form would not provide coverage for the spoilage or loss of income as the loss was the result of a mechanical breakdown which is excluded.
- Food spoilage coverage, including breakdown, would need to be purchased to provide coverage for the spoilage loss.
- Loss of business income would only apply to a loss with direct damage to covered property from a covered peril, such as fire.
